Iris: General information

Greek mythology called Iris, the messenger of the Gods, and that is the divinity that, using the rainbow as a passage, allowed the "dialogue" between Olympus
and Earth. The flower of the iris was so called because the multiplicity of its colors recalled, precisely,
the colors of the rainbow. It is said, too, that the first species of
this flower was transferred to Egypt by the pharaoh Thutmosis from Syria. In Italy the iris is a very common flower in the Tuscan countryside;
in fact, it seems that on the basis of this flower the emblem of the city of Florence was devised, although it has always been commonly known as the Florentine lily. Even King Louis of France chose it as a symbol of his country. in Japan the iris is one of the national flowers.
The meaning associated with this flower is a message of good news.
